Scrub Your Troubles Away kits were distributed to several sites in the Richmond area, including Richmond High School. The project was made possible with 4CCF grant dollars awarded to Kind Human 4 Human Kind.
Local nonprofits that help residents meet their basic needs received a significant portion of grant awards in Four County Community Foundation’s latest review cycle.
In April, Four County Community Foundation’s (4CCF) board of trustees approved more than $100,000 in grant dollars to 16 applicants, with the bulk of those funds going to agencies that provide medical, housing, utility and food assistance to area families and individuals. Imlay City’s Hispanic Service Center will use funds to support their on-site food pantry and assist clients with utility bills. MCREST (Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team) is being supported in their efforts to help women and children in their shelter obtain vital documents and access transportation. Love INC of Lapeer County will use grant dollars to support their housing and utility assistance programs, Hope for Home & Power Toward Change. Trinity Community Care’s grant award will provide dental care and supplies for low-income residents of Macomb County.
Among the awardees were several first-time recipients, including Kind Human 4 Human Kind. The St. Clair County-based nonprofit utilized $2,000 in 4CCF funds to provide 50 household cleaning kits to veterans, senior citizens and families in need in the Richmond area as part of their “Scrub Your Troubles Away” project. The kits—distributed in partnership with Richmond High School, the Richmond Community Center and Richmond VFW Post 6802—contained household cleaners, toiletries, towels, and laundry supplies.
“These items are often overlooked in traditional aid but are essential to human dignity. Everyone deserves to live in a clean environment, regardless of their income,” said Jamie Gipson, Executive Director of Kind Human 4 Human Kind.
“This initiative proves that when we work together, kindness can be transformative.”
